Equinapy Session Timing

Equinapy is a term coined for equine-assisted therapy that emphasizes a

spirit of determination and excellence in spite of disabilities.

Timing: Each session has an approximate time allotment. In dealing with horses, with children, and with disabilities, sometimes things are unpredictable. We try to be fluid with time. We are interested in outcomes, so we tend to watch the person, not the clock. If goals are met for the day or the client is spent, the session may end before time allotted. If the goals are not met or a reward is in order, the session may go a little longer to see if they can be attained or to celebrate success. We will always strive to end the session on time and on a positive note.

Documentation: The instructor needs a few minutes before hand to look at the notes and goals of the day. Afterwards the instructor will also document what took place during the session: what goals where obtaine, new goals to work on and other observations made. Accordingly, the instructor designs, charts and a prepares for the upcoming sessions for each client.  On a quarterly basis, a session time will include the review and updates to the rider's therapy and goal plans.

Communication: Communication is very important to goal achievement. As we are trying to be time flexible to gain the best outcome for the session, please be patient in waiting and communicate to us if an early departure is needed.

Session End: Please also remember to allow time after the session for rest and nourishment as hard work makes one hungry and tired.
