Volunteer Program

Our program would not be possible without the generosity and investment of time, effort, talents and energy provided by our volunteers.  If you enjoy the outdoors, like working with horses, children and adults, and can commit to at least one or more hours(s) per week, Sugar Creek Equinapy needs you! Volunteer schedules are flexible, vary by events, and needs at the center.

Background and Experience

Our volunteers come from all over the city and bring with them a diverse range of backgrounds.  Some have horse experience, some do not.  Generally, volunteers are at least 14 years old, but age acceptance can vary depending upon experience. Experience with horses is not required to volunteer.  Some people have worked with special needs individuals in the past; others have not.  No matter, they all have one thing in common, a passion for serving and helping others.

Volunteer Activities

In addition to supporting activities involving the riders and horses, volunteers also lend a supporting hand and share their skills in accounting, writing, photography, computer or organizational skills with our center.  Whatever your talent or interest, there is a place for you at Sugar Creek Equinapy.

Arena Related Opportunities

There are many general barn-related tasks with which we need assistance.  Some example are:  general horse care, getting horses ready for class, assisting riders with tack, assisting riders during class, leaders and side-walkers, stall cleaning, etc.

Non-Arena Related Activities

As Sugar Creek Equinapy grows, we have an increasing need for volunteers to perform basic office related tasks.  For example:  filing, document management, mailings, promotions, events, etc.
